I do not use 2 pumps per tank, there are plenty of powerful pumps out there that provide strong enough enough flow, to handle the job.
I use plumbing like Tees or elbows, and valves to split and control current to different parts of the tank. In many cases I have 2 or 3 tanks on 1 sump, with 1 high powered pump.
But usually have an extra new pump sitting idle, in case the working one goes down, and also extra impellers.

What size return pump do u suggest with 2 800gph overflows. I'm looking at one that is max 1720gph

Well if you can max your drainage at 1600gph I'd say that or less. If you go over that you'll end up with water on the floor. You have to consider head height ofcoarse but better safe the sorry.

I belive a flow rate of 1720 will work, with the head height of running from the sump up to the tank or the bends, or elbows, 1600 will probably be max you'll get. And if it does turn out to be too much flow for the overflows, you can always throttle the return lines back with ball ball valves.
All centrifugal pumps arable to be throttled back on the out flow, you just don't want to choke it on the inlet side of the pump.

Well the 1720 has a 14.8ft rating. The next size smaller is 1350gph and has a 13.1ft rating.

Both have digital controllers. So u can turn down the power.
