I wanted to do bolivian rams, but the female just disappeared (literally overnight and after laying 2 batches of eggs).

Whats a good fish to breed in a 29? If not for life at least for a while. I would like cichlids, but its not absolutely necessary.

Basically what would you breed?

how about some dwarf cichlids, or some dwarf gourami's, you could try breeding some nice pleco's

plecos might need more than that in my mind

but on the gouramis i think you can do it just throwing a couple live or fake plants in there

you might be able to get a relatively decent batch of any firemouths and of course the apistogramma cacautoides (if you are looking for a dwarf cichlid)

I would do these fish. (Not at the same time of course)
Pearl Gourami
Apistogramma species
Kribensis
Bleeding Heart Tetra.

convicts as always do well in anything cichlids generally dont like tall narrow tanks so yea maybe south american dwarfs but they get tricky i would do guppy or any livebearing fish do some research because they extend much further than what they pet store has hey always hang onto that 29 they make great grow out tanks in the future throw a sponge filter in there and your good to go assuming you would get a bigger tank...wich we always end up doing lol

Hmm bleeding heart tetra eh? Sounds interesting. Apistos and Kribs around here are like trying to find weapons of mass destruction in Iran. I am not even sure they exist. But I am going to look up info on bleeding hearts.

Maybe might even do the gourami (I was thinking betta but gouramis build a bubblenest too right?). I don;t know if we have pearls here either.

THanks for the input fellows. I might get a female bolivian ram sunday with my 8 angels, then I might just try those.

Yes, Gourami's are bubble nesters.

Bleeding Heart Tetra. Not bad?

I had a trio of convicts that spawned regularly in a 29. Try some African cichlids the 29 would be fine for some mbuna.
