29 gallon planted lighting question

Some easy plants you can try are anacharis, anubias, java moss, java fern, Cryptocoryne wendtii, wisteria, dwarf sag etc. Those bulbs you get at petsmart/petco would work. I have grown all of those. They typically are dwarf lilys, onion plant, and aponogetons. I think with the included light fixture you got you'd be ok to grow these plants I listed. You want daylight bulbs like 6500K. I would invest more into providing nutrients to the plants though. Buy some good plant substrate and at the very least some liquid fertilizers. I bought a T5NO fixture for like $65 that fits a 29 gallon I got. Provides low-medium light. I can grow most plants, even some of the harder ones. But I also dose fertilizers and excel, plus DIY C02. But I only add in the C02 cause my tank is moderate/heavily planted. So more plants = more competition for C02, then C02 supplement becomes more necessary.

But for most easier plants, and if you plants lightly/moderate you don't need to supplement C02 IMO. Plus lower light means plants grow slower, and their uptake of C02/ferts is slower.

I agree with pyramid. I would be careful not to overdue the lights. All it will do is cause algae issues that require high C02, high nutrients and high water flow to combat.

I have very high lighting but I don't mind dumping time and money into growing my plants.

why not get a low tech co2 injector, the one i have in my tank right now is a Hagen, its like $20-$30 at amazon and like $5-$6 for 3 pack refill. this one is a simple canister that has yeast, sugar, and stabilizer which i've read somewhere that the stabilizer is baking soda. its low tech, low maintenance but most importantly it works. I tried the DIY before i had a hard time keeping the yeast alive for more than 3 days...
