29 gallon puffer tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like the way they look too! I'm currently setting up a congo tank myself.. they are kind of hard to find, but if you really want one, I'm sure you can figure something out! Just as I have. Here's some basic care tips for the congo

Common Name: Congo Puffer
Family: Tetraodontidae
Distribution: Central Africa : Congo Basin
Water Parameters: Temp: 23 - 26C (74 - 80F); pH:6.0 - 7.8
Personality/Temperament: Piscivore. Very aggressive and usually attacks anything in sight. One fish tank.
Activity: Lurker - activity varies. As with all different fish, it all depends on their own individual personality.
Max. Size: 6 inches (15 cm)
Tank requirements: 30 gallon (29 gallon is close enough!) Sandy substrate because they like to burrow themselves up to their eyes

Cool thanks I will definatly look into them.

I have a congo, and must say hes a lot more active then i ever expected... i would say if possible, find one in a shop, and see how active it is for yourself... coz if your lucky you may find one like mine...

Congo's is a good idea. Don't forget to provide hard foods!

thanks for the comments guys. Maybe I will have congos in my future.

Keep us updated! :)

GSP Are Super Cool
I'm not sure why you would prefer not to go with a GSP. Perhaps to common?
Mine is a great fish with lots of personality, good fit for a 29 gal., as easy to care for as any BW fish, looks great, fun to watch, nice color & shape. What can I say, I love my little GSP and you might too given the chance.:headbang2

Keep in mind, there is probably only ~25g of water in there. IMO, 29g is too small for an adult GSP. Can you imagine a 6" Nerf ball swimming around comfortably in there?
