29 gallon vivarium

So I now have an empty 29 gallon and I would like to maybe do a vivarium for the tank but I am wondering what I should put in it. I was considering a crested gecko but could I keep live plants in a setup with them?

Other suggestions are welcomed.

newts or frogs i had onethat had a place for a small amount of water so i put 2 mosquito fish in with 2 firebelly toads and a fire belly newt. also a green vine snake would look good

That tank would be fine for a pair of cresteds and yes, you can keep live plants with them (I do).

Can't do snakes but cresites sound sweet and it would probably be just one but we will see. Good to know I can keep live plants with them. IS a standard 29 gallon tall enough for them?

I would go with cresties or day geckos, I have noticed since planting my crestie viv that he is much more active and has put on a bunch of weight and is expressing better colors

A 29 gallon is fine. I would actually like to replace my tank and get an Exo Terra 18"x18"x24" for my trio. Currently they're in a 39 gallon Oceanic Chameleon Lounge. I highly recommend a planted tank but fake plants can work too. Actually, keeping and maintaining a planted tank isn't that hard at all. The geckos seemed more relaxed when you have vegetation and they really enjoy sleeping in the plants during the day. Plus live plants help hold the humidity in the tank.

Thanks. That pics a little old and the plants have filled in more since it was taken. I use an Exo Terra Compact Canopy with two 2.0 compact fluorescent bulbs. Because my tank is in my basement where it stays 65 F. all year long I use a 40 watt ceramic heat emitter to warm the cage up.

I don't have too big of an issue keeping the tank humid in the summer thanks to the fish tanks kept near it but in the winter I cover the doors with plastic wrap to keep the moisture in. I spray the tank heavily once a day in the evening.

Thanks for the info. Any specific plants you suggest. SO far all I've been looking at is bromelids and pothos.

Most tropical plants with strong leaves and branches will work fine. Pothos is a winner and holds up pretty well. The only problem I had was with my bromelids which did not hold up well to crested geckos crawling all over them. I do want to try using them again but I think I'll go with larger, stronger species.
