I have a 3 foot 29gallon that I am cycling. I am pretty sure that I want to put a pair of Rainbows in there. I am also interested in keyholes, so I am posting this poll to get peoples opinions. Also I am open to suggestions if anybody would like to share what they think would be best for a 29.

Thanks

I just got myself a few rainbows recently.. really awesome.. nice colors too.. and they fairly passive.. so that would be my choice for the 29g..

you could do angelfish. thats what i am doing.

rainbows are awesome!!!

If you don't have any fish in there right now you aren't cycling.

Well, I'm kind of cycling the tank because over 50% of the water in there I took out of my JDs tanks and it already has the beneficial bacteria in it. Also I plan on putting a guppy or 2 in there in the next few days.

By the way lots of people use ammonia and cycle their tanks without adding fish. I have never done it myself because I can't get passed the idea of putting ammonia in an aquarium but supposedly lots of people are successful doing that.

something smaller, maybe laetacara or Rams ...

These are much better options if it's a standard 29 gallon thank ... I haven't seen a 3ft 29 gallon before (that doesn't mean they don't exist of course).

ummm.... fishless cycling??? the method that is supported 100% by this forum. Fishless cycling is actually pretty much looked down upon for many reasons. There are tons of threads about fishless cycling too, so there's not really any reason not to do it and save an innocent fish from the stresses of cycling a tank on its own.
