I wouldent do angels unless you keep only one in there or upgrade in the future. If your looking for s. American you could do microgeophagus ramerizi (I have seen these for sale at petco). Also a school of tetras would look nice. And there is useually a large selection at petco/smart. Also you can find live plants there amazon sword and micro sword are both from s. America and petco useually carries upgraded lighting they also have co2 systems for sale there you could make a nice planted tank. I think I might go the planted route with my in wall. There are loads of opptions out there. I'm a locale freak so all my suggestions would be geographically specific. Good luck.

forgot to mention the upgrade haha

So I can do 1 angel, group of corys, a small pleco, and a ctenopoma acutirostre? And the ctenopoma acutirostre shouldn't nip at the angel? Can I do any mid level schooling fish?

yea sounds pretty good and no i dont think the ctenopoma acutirostre would nip. i use to have one with my school of angel fish in my 55g. and yes you can do any schooling fish but they might nip on the angels tail. ohh and provide some plants for the ctenopoma acutirostre ctenopoma acutirostre to hide.

Good mid level schooling fish for that tank would be diamond or bleeding heart tetras theses are a little higher bodied and the other fish shouldn't bother them and they shouldn't bother the other fish. Plants as was mentioned is a must in this tank. It will really bring it all together. I would go with micro and amazon swords. What size do you plan on upgradeing to adventually?

Ok, here's what you do (totally just what I'd do). I'd leave it empty for now. Get some C02 Injectors, put in some low laying blades (keeps to the bottom like grass). Then build up a nice looking live plant tank. Then, you get yourself the Angel Fish, make sure you put 2 of them in, and make sure they're put in at the same time, so they can both have a chance at dominance and it will create less fighting in the long run. Then add some pretty neons, with a moon light at night.

Ya man, now that's a sexy tank. And it's under populated so that the angels can be less stressed and will have AMAZING colors.

Good luck!

Angel fish eat neons.

Really? I didn't think an angelfish's mouth was that big... well, thanks for the tips *crosses that off the list*
