29g planted tank questions.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That is the one I really like.

I still need to know what kind of plants you intend to keep, as this light could be far more than you need, or also not enough.

There are swords in this tank at the moment, although they aren't doing the best. I have some moneywort (I think) in my 10g that I would like to try and move into the 29g when I get the new lighting. Other than that, I haven't researched plants that require med. lighting, because I don't have it.

If your swords aren't doing well, then it is more than likely a nutrient deficiency. What ferts are you using, and what fish are in the tank?

I only use liquid ferts- Seachems Flourish Excel, once every other week.

There was a pair of convicts in the tank, and they would uproot the plants weekly. I didn't expect them to do great in that situation, but I got rid of the cons, and want the plants to be part of the scenery, not just a source of excercise for my fish. Stocklist now - 15 assorted tetras, 3 blue dwarf rainbows, and until last night a queen arabesque plec. Eventually I'd like to add a pair of blue rams as the 'focus'.

My 20 gallon planted gets excel double dose every day. Definitely get some ferts, especially NPK.

What about some root tabs for the swords? I just mixed in a bag of flourite along with some play sand that was already in the tank. What is NPK?

I ordered the coral life freshwater striplight. I bought root tabs. I am very excited. Thanks for all the help.:)

Penguin 350... does it matter? (lol, im such a noob.)
