Yes it does matter... reread this thread. Surface agitation is bad on planted tanks. This will gas off the co2 that is in the water. Very minor SA is the most you should have, my 135 has none.
Hmmm... So if I take the sponge filter in my 10g out and put it in my 30g, will that be enough for filtration? (The 10g has a HOB and the sponge, so I clearly didn't understand the intention of buying a sponge filter)
I am accustomed to large fish that need super filtration, and this just seems to be the bare minimum... makes me slightly nervous.
The sponge filter I bought is rated for 'up to 30 gallons'. I bought this one, because it was pretty much the same price as the ones rated for smaller tanks.
Right now I have 15 assorted tetras, and three blue dwarf rainbows.
