I find my red zebras(some more yellow) to be one of the most agressive ones in my mbuna tank, very territorial even if i re-arrange the caves. yellow labs are the best starter mbuna IMO, they dont get as small and I have never seen them be aggressive like most others. for your 29 gallon tank I'd get a 8 small africans(1"-1.5") and watch them grow, and by the time that they're too big for the tank, you'll be in your new apt with the bigger tank. have fun with it, I have found that with the baby mbuna you can keep lots of live plants in the tank without them completely destroying them.
