29g stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would recommend blue a small group of German Blue Rams. They are peaceful beautiful cichlids.

PS Your parents let u get a bigger tank?

my 29 has a jag, gt, uro, and livingstoni. i think this set-up would be fine :)

just kiddin'. the fish are all 2-4'' and will be upgraded.:D Anyways.... how about a breeding pair of cons? or some other species of cryptoheros or amantitlania? a pair of copper cichlids would be pretty cool 8)

i was planning to get convicts for the longest time, but theres no way i could find something to do with the fry. people have suggested get one, but a 30g fish with 1 4'' fish is like a 100sq foot fish room with only a 20g
:D

siamese barred catfish
bristlenose pleco
african butterfly
5 Bronze Corydoras
Turquois Rainbow
Convict
would it work?

I have been thinking about starting a small cichlid tank somewhere in the range of 29-30 gallons, and if I set one up I would do one of the following (all these fish are available at my LFS):

2 ( 1 breeding pair) Thoricthys ellioti aka red aureum AND
1 breeding colony wild color swordtails (1 male 3 females)

OR you could do an arthocentrus cichlid...

1 Breeding pair Archocentrus Sp. Cutteri's Cichlid they have blue eyes OR 1 breeding pair Arthocentris sp. Honduran Red Points aka blue convicts OR 1 breeding pair marbled convicts AND 6 Tiger barbs OR 6 Serpae Tetras

Also you do a west african biotope with jewel cichlids or kribs, upside down catfish, and 1 african butterfly fish for the top of the water column.

The good thing about all these fish except the convicts (I just think the marble ones look cool) is that they're a little more rare in the hobby so people will actually be interested in the babies, but they're still tough and relatively easy to breed.

For more ideas check out cichlid-forum premade tanks.

If you wanted to go the Piranha route you could do:

1 Serrasalmus sanchezi

or while not piranhas, you could put a school of Exodon Paradoxus in there...

I hope this helps. Good luck

im going to say no just because the abf. i doubt it would get along with the convicts

maybe just get a breeding pair of convicts and give the fry to your lfs or use as feeders if you need em. believe me, when they get started, there will be no shortage of fry ;)

Its the other way around, the con would terrorize the ABF. Also the rainbow would get bullied/killed. Corydoras could be fine, they may get chased, but if they can staty away they will be fine. I suggest having a few caves/hiding spots. You should go with a female con though.
