29gal in the works...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that many ...40 cleaners thats alot in a 29 gal huh?

you can always use less but many people overfeed
i like 1 snail per gallon and 1 hermit (the dwarf kind anyway) per 2 gallons

over feeding shouldnt be a problem it will be on angler in there eventually and the damsels will be eaten by him...i was thinking 8hermit crabs and 15 snails...

well, he's also probably going to eat a few, lol, but go with what you want. it's your money...

haha sorry i for got to take a flick of the rainforest cage completely setup....here is the transition so far...

i should be going after my morning class to collect some live rock todays...so ya

rather than adding the damsels, just let the live rock start the cycle, when you add the live rock the ammonia from it will be more than enough. unless you run the UGF in reverse they will just trap crap under the gravel that you will have an extremely hard time getting out and will cause problems later on, personally i'd just ditch them and use the rock for your bio filter and a good protien skimmer for mechanical filtration and enough powerheads to get over 10x turnover rate so that you can eliminate dead spots in the live rock. an 8200k light would work for corals, but you will have a very hard time finding corals that will survive under NO lighting unless you've got several bulbs over the tank, corals can be grown under light anywhere between 6500k and 20,000k(although growth is slower under 20,000k) but they need lots of that light.

ya im just not looking forward to ripping the ugf out ...i guess i can always just remove the uplift tubes and cover the holes with sand... and im putting live rock today or tomm its kindof overcast to go diving today and next week im going to try catch some small fish...when i go diving...

it's easier to rip out the UGF, just pill the gravel and rocks in the middle then pull them out and push the gravel back into place. although i would highly recommend getting rid of the gravel and getting a 20lb bag of live sand from the LFS(it will speed up the cycle, look good and be better for the angler)

no can sell live rock or sand or coral out here in hawaii...thats why i have to start the really slow method...and get my own live rock...

can you collect? do they sell marine bio-spira out there?
