I def gotta chime in on this one.....they are two comp diff rappers(back when it was actually hip-hop and not "pop rap"). Biggie IMO had better delivery I give him that, and he made more club bangers than Pac. But Pac was in another leaque in the aspect he touched alot more people. He was not only a rapper, but a Poet, and although Big was good at telling stories as well, Pac was something else. He stood for a movement and revolution and the way he spoke and rapped his songs is wat gives him the edge IMO. I love how he exposed the whole industry and put out there wat we "the public" are not able to see. But in the end doing so, also caused him his life.....dont wanna get to deep wit this, but it is wat it is. I love and respect Big but Pac overall was jus ahead of him. Both were very talented and GREATS and no will ever be able to bring wat they brought to the table.

yea i def agree wit u cause biggie his songs had a good flow and like you said the delivery was nice but pac he had meaning and it wasnt all bout the fame for him im sure but yea r.i.p

i really dont like how the new generations think that all the new post 2k artists are the best and all cause when u come down to it they really are repetative and talkin bout nothin... i respect peoples favs and all but just in my opinion i see this.. u kno what im sayin?

Music is art, and as such, the feelings and embrace a person has will be effected by there own personal life. How they are raised, and other tastes.

There is no real quantifiable way to argue music no matter how hard anyone tries. Sometimes people just like things, love isn't measurable or attainable it just happens.

DUDE.
you're so right..
this generation just listens to generic pop with meaningless lyrics..
barely any of the other "rappers" even truly rap.
They don't rap from the heart you know? they don't address issues, problems etc..
there's no depth. no message..

I def agree wit you as well. New rap is nothing really but club music. Which is fine but sometimes I get tired of hearing about money, hoes, and wat u got. Spit some real ****. Music will never be wat it used to be IMO, and that goes for all genres, cuz I listen to everything but country. I miss alot of the artists I grew up on....Pac, Big, Big L, Big Pun, Lost boyz, Nas, Old Jay z, AZ, Old Outkast, DMX, and plenty more.....like I said I know music has to evolve and all, jus never thought it would evolve and downgrade.....smdh......

In b4 recursing conversation.

I wish i had a time machine, big enough for all you guys to fit in so we could see this conversation take part in the 60s, then 70s...then 80s..

Ahh the great Biggie vs 2pac convo has finally ended up on a fish forum. Let's me first start off with letting you know I'm a born and bred Kalifornia kid and my vote goes for Big. Lyrically Pac was not on Big's level, delivery wise Pac didn't come close. Pac basiclly has the same delivery every song and is 90% of the time evading enemies or rhyiming about something to do with Hennesy. Big never really got to grow as an artist due to his death so we only have 2 volumes of work to judge him on and they are both classics.

2pac was truely a different breed all together and this is why I have to knock him. His background in thearte, being rasied by black panthers and his exposure to their everyday struggle should of made him better then Big. Instead we get songs like What's Your Phone Number, How do you want it, Thug Passion and etc. Pac before Deathrow had so much promise then Pac he signed to deathrow and was trash. Promoting the lifestye that he was rasied to speak against. It wasn't until his murder that his best stuff got leaked.

It's sad that both these cats lost their lifes because of Suge's ego .. yeah i said it!!!

Both will be missed but at least HIP HOP still has Nas.

Real Hip Hop died when labels like Loud, Rawkas and the Russel Simmions Def Jam closed. Today these dudes aren't emcees they are media creations. I remember in my teens waiting until a new cd dropped going to the store and being proud to be the first to bump it. Now I hear these songs on the radio with soccer cheers in the chorus and beats that sound like they should be playing in the red light district and I shake my head.
