Personally I think sumps and wet/dry's have alot more positives than canisters, but if you must go with a canister I would go with 2 eheims. Eheims are already extremely reliable and 2 will almost eliminate chances of failure, plus eheim media is the best around. Pot scrubbies aren't even close in terms of surface area as substrat pro and are more suited towards sumps and wetdrys. A fx5 with scrubbies and floss is nothing more than a glorified mechanical filter, albeit a 240 dollar one when 2 aquaclears would be the same mechanically.chesterthehero;2946471; said:i need to stop doing math in my head
2 2028 will run you $312 not $280 (this does not account for tax)
packing a fx5 full of scrubbies (open scrubbies to fill misses space) as well as filterfloss will cost you another $20 or so.. so even on the highside of ebay thats $240 for the fx5...
either way... its pretty much more of a "what do you want to do" sorta deal... i personaly want an fx5 just so i can say that i have one... however for less than $100 i can build a sump that will do just as well of a job with no down side...
