Sometimes when you create something with your hands u can appreciate it better..
Many solution without through your money!
DIY for ever!!

I have one more question:R u ok with your filter matterials?
I mean, the spongs r doing good job right?? photos soon!

I think people should learn to have confidence in themselves that indeed DIY is possible and in fact a lot more effective in this case. I mean if you compare the mech and bio filter materials in those FXs against what I have in mine, the comparison isn't even close.

Re: Filter Materials
My suggestion is for you to consider different kinds of materials of different porosity. I forgot the thread that I read here where it theorized that a variety of materials will encourage a more well rounded growth of different species of Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter.

The more the merrier indeed.

Virtually maintenance free, I just rinse them in pond water one every 3 or 6 months. Don't really know if I really need to, but just to be on the safe side. But whenever I rinse or clean, there are no solid matter, everything is crud and goo.

Looking forward to your pix! No more comments from me unless I see pix!! hehe

You 've been very healpfull, thanks a lot!
