***ushima nuclear plant #1 (i believe this is the one with 5 reactors) has finally/actually exploded.

There is a big difference between exploding and having a melt down. exploding means just that a part of it exploded.

A melt down is when the fuel rods over head, and starts to effectively melt themselfs. This releases largest amounts of radiation and is very lethal. THIS IS NOT whats happening, atleast not yet.

(the video yesterday was of a refinery exploding, which a few have, but unrelated the the power plant)

The report I just read didn't suggest any deaths, just the original quote of 1500.

I've got a friend over in Japan in the Navy who has told me that so far they are actively pumping sea water into the plant in order to cool things and have yet to have a melt down. The radiation leaking has decreased and that the Building Explosion may have smothered the leak so to speak.

the report didn't say anything about them being at this specific unit, however there are many conflicting news reports, so it could have been ommited.

Accord to Breaking News on CNN:

"We are assuming that a meltdown has occurred" at a nuclear power reactor, Japan's chief Cabinet secretary says.

<----- Not a big fan of CNN Reporting.

<------ Not a big fan of a news corp that starts their story with "We are assuming".

Back on topic. Does anyone have any information factually confirming a Meltdown?
