I ordered another puffer and some other small brackish fish Friday. I'm going to add some crushed coral and do a partial water change before they come. I'll raise the saltininty to 1.004.

sorry for your loss

Ty. My son was very upset. I pride myself on taking extra good care of my fish. It bothers me when I loose a fish and I can't figure out why. I've noticed some fish not acclimating well like clown loaches. If they make it threw the first week your ok.

I've noticed arows do stress easily. My silver was upset for months just moving him to a different tank.

Maybe he ate too much, although it would seem unlikely to kill him over night... another question would be did you defrost the market shrimp for your puff before feeding??? i know its a stupid question but just good to double check...

IMO, 2 hrs is a very long time to acclimate. A lot of ammonia can build up in that time. Puffers are very sensitive to ammonia. 1/2 hr is enough time for a puffer.

ok..

yes i thawed the shrimp first.

i raised the sg to 1.004 and did a 20% waterchange to prepare for new arivals tommarow. also added about 10lbs of crushed coral.

i picked up another puffer last week from lfs. he is doing great. the salt level is about 1.005. loves to eat brine shrimp.

current stock

1- f8 puffer
2-ballon mollies, 2 females, 1 is really aggressive possibly pregnant
3-bumblebee gobies.

i wanted to add another puffer so i ordered 1 . he arrived doa. they shipped me another and he was doa also. apparently they dont ship well. liveaquaria kinda skimped on the shipping water. i called them and asked why ship a sensitive fish with a cup of water.
