Im starting to get my Aro tank ready, Im about to order filters and I like the look and set up of the 400. But will 3 be enough for an Aro tank? I was told to use 2 of them and get a canister filter. But I don't want the plumb to take away from the look of the tanks. Also would it be too weird to use an undergravel system too?

I used to have 3 Emp400 on my 125 then I minus one and added a
fluval 304. It does a much better job with the extra bio filtration
from the Fluval. Don't get 3 HOBs thinkin its gonna be long term.

I would do 2 or 3 emp 400s and an exp3 canister. Very easy to set up and clean.

i would atleast add 1 canister filter in there. or wet/dry.

You could do with the 3 HOB's. An under gravel filter would give you more BB than a cannister, more water circulation and more oxygenation too! If you use power heads on the uplift tubes your tank would remain spotless unless you have fish that like to dig in the gravel.

I agree and think that you should definetly get a canister for the 125. Its definetly worth the extra money.

IMO undergravel filter are a piece of junk. can not compare circulation and oxgenation to canister.

Then you have NEVER used an U.G. with power heads!!! There is no way ANY cannister ever comes close to the BB in the gravel of a 125 gallon tank! Don't knock it until you've tried it!!! I'm not saying don't use a cannister filter! I'm just saying the BB in a cannister doesn't even come close to what's in a large tank with an U.G. !!! :D And...... 4 SMALL (Not even large ones!) power heads (that is at least how many would be needed for a 125) would blow away the circulation on even an FX5!!!

IMO, powefilter and canister filters are a good combo for any tank... Undergravel filters are a different story... Can be okay if use properly, but most people dont... About 95% of fish stores use undergravel, and some HOB...
