3 Emperor 400 in a 125gl tank

Then you have NEVER used an U.G. with power heads!!! There is no way ANY cannister ever comes close to the BB in the gravel of a 125 gallon tank! Don't knock it until you've tried it!!! I'm not saying don't use a cannister filter! I'm just saying the BB in a cannister doesn't even come close to what's in a large tank with an U.G. !!! And...... 4 SMALL (Not even large ones!) power heads (that is at least how many would be needed for a 125) would blow away the circulation on even an FX5!!!

YES i have try and use UG before that is why i said it junk. i dont know, from what i experienced from it i never keep my tank clean and clear. even i just strong power head, still doesnt do much for me. When i swap to canister it make a lot difference. just throwing out some of the experience i got with UG.

Okay so Ive decided to run 3 400 for now, The Aro Im picking up is only 7in right now, I will probably add a canister filter in the future.

I originally wanted to know if 3 400 were good enough, apparently I started a fire

I only plan on keeping a few fish

and whatever my wife wants that won't be eaten by the Aro

I'm currently using 3 Emps on my 125.... It works well. Just fill the extra media baskets with Bio-Media.
