3 Externals filters: better than 2? hhmmm....

i did something similar to you, i hade two ac 110 and a canister
and cleaning the ac every week and the canister every 3 was killing me i hated it

so i got rid of it all and set up and fx5, best 200 i every spent
every time i do clean it 4-6 weeks i usally only clean the top tray, it really easy maintance as far as canisters go

Picked up the 2nd fx5, and will soon set it up. Just needed a little convincing.

The only disadvantage to going from three filters to two is that when you go to clean one of the filters, you run the risk of gutting half of your beneficial bacteria. With three filters, cleaning one filter would only put one third of your bacteria at risk. With the bioload you have, that could be causing a bloom each time you do clean a filter, but it might not.

Just a thought.
