3 Foot Wild Dorado Caught!

Ya thanks ...and yes they call it either Mahi Mahi or Dorado..but the latter being used when it's caught and MM when u order it up at a restaurant.
 
In the gulf you sometimes run into schools of chicken dolphin about pan sized you could probably keep one off them or pompano dolphin.

You must be thinking about the Golden Dorado,which is what I expected to see when I opened this thread.That one is a huge south american freshwater fish.Both fishes fresh and salt have many common names.

Oro is Spanish for gold. Dorado means "the gilded one".
I saw a bunch of these at the Monterey Bay Aquarium this summer. They're impressive during feeding time. My camera did not like how reflective they are in their normal swimming color of silver. A few of them turned bright yellow with blue fins when the food hit the water.
