For me, I think they're kinda cute and puppy-like at 22" like mine is.

how big in diameter is your ausie at this length? my SAL is barely fed and i've seen him grabbing my bichirs ... can't do any damage yet since he's only 18" and 1" in diameter while the endlis are 1.5" in diameter .... i'm slightly concern when he gets big

LYMIQ - If your SAL is barely fed, no wonder he's bothering your bichirs - and he is going to be doing damage very shortly. Keep him fed :)

santoury is correct in that keeping the lungfish well fed will most of the time keep it from bothering other tankmates, however, there are exceptions, and unfortunately, i have seen this a few times with SALs.

i recently had to move mine from my bichir tank since it would constantly bother the bichirs...and this fish was very well fed. they seem to get somewhat territorial with other bottom-dwelling fishes...not all of them, but some.

i had a friend who had a similar problem with bichirs and an SAL...only his put a serious bit on a bichir, which eventually led to its removal as well.

just another example of how generalities are good, but one must keep in mind the individual fish. good luck, and i hope your fish eventually gets along with its tankmates...and by all means, keep him well fed!--

It might be possible for ceratodus.com to sell a broodstock specimen like this. Figure in the neighborhood of $100K and you'll be close.

$100K. bloody hell. I saw a dead Aussi lung fish just two weeks ago which was over 1.5 meters long at my local fishing spot. I tried to get it out of the water with a net, but it was WAY too big and the current too strong.
