So i was just perusing a store of petcosmartland variety, and a guy brings in a ziploc bag with 3 guppies in it, dead. He's a hefty guy. I overhear him talking to a rather petite girl working the fish dept, and to my astonishment, she's just all like "i'll test your water to see if there's anything wrong with it" without raising an eyebrow about a bad sample since there's dead fish in it. i hang around just to hear the results, and again to my astonishment, she tells him "your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels are all good, so we'll just give you some new fish"
i got the impression that she had no idea what she was doing, or didn't care enough to explain to this guy, or if she was just lazy and figured giving fish is easier to deal with. i've had some conversations with the dept manager, and i might've told him what happened. but she was kinda cute. so, life goes on i suppose.

I have had customers bring in dead fish with tap water before.

Cute will kick corrects butt each and every time...

I know what your talking about however. I've seen the same thing many times over. It's worse when they WONT replace the fish because they assume the bag water is the customers tank water.

In my honest opinion, there should be no warranty on fish, and I have never used such a warranty. If the fish was healthy when it left the store, you have no complaint. If the fish wasn't healthy, you should have inspected the fish before you agreed to buy it.

I've done the same thing...but I keep careful track of where the poor fish come from and even when...For example...NEVER buy a fish on delivery day lol

When I worked at the pet store I'd say 80% of people brought dead fish in with their water to be tested...then again it's Georgia and most of the state is retarded. Once I explained to them I couldn't really test their water they would get mad and leave...it's a shame really.

"but the fish looked healthy in the store! it was very active and doing a dance against the tank decorations!"

And if the chick was fugly you would've got your panties in a knot and tattled to the manager?
