That 30" is aquarium size and the Temensis is the second largest cichlid. The largest is the emperor cichlid.
Yes, very possible. You can't sex until 5-8" when you can vent them. And I have seen pics of cichla temensis larger than 30" in aquariums, but have never seen a monoculus or ocellaris larger than 26", not even a wild caught one. And I'm pretty sure those babies you have of temensis were scotts rio tapajos that turned out to be cichla pinima.
