Gorgeous fish man. I have a male isletus, he is 10"... Similar fish to be fair but less yellow.
Lighting makes him look blue TBF.

Always been curious to what the dna make up of lake arenal spp to be, my understanding is alot were added after the dam was built in the 1960's.

Thanks - your boy looks awesome. I haven't had an Isletes yet, but definitely will in the future. For a second in that last pic, I thought I was looking at a Frontosa

Very nice, seems like a very nice wet pet.

Thanks - he's been aggravating me lately. When I put food in, he rushes to the top and does he best to soak me and put as much back out of the tank as possible. I have to have a handful on one side of the tank and then run to the other and throw in and close as quick as possible. He still usually manages to make a mess If I wait too long for him to calm down, then the fish start getting testy and someone gets bit. Thank goodness it is in the basement on tile.

Lol that's how a Midas should be. My boy hasn't got to splashing yet, just glass ramming and magnet chasing.... Plus sitting 2" from my had during maintenance looking angry haha.
He is always angry I think, the led light does give him that frontosa look agreed.

Found a pic of him from the week I got him from COTA at 5.5" TL - you can see he was kind of brown at that time. Below is another pic I found about 10 months later - he was already turning on the ladies - no male Festae in the tank...
