Well this weekend went awesome for me. I fished all day Saturday and on Sunday I went to my local fish club auction. Well at the auction they had several tanks for bid among the thousands (not exaggerating) of bags of fish. Twenty bucks later I had myself a 20 Gallon Tall with a hood and working light plus an under gravel filter (not using the under gravel but it was a cool bonus). Went home and set it up last night, added a preseeded sponge filter and a two pebble thin layer of gravel to the tank so it was pretty much insta-cycled, let the temperature stabilize and it was set. Added about 15 Fry from my Cutteri cichlid pair (they were already in a 5 gallon Unheated bucket with slight ammonia so whether the chemistry in the tank is off or not it's a step up for them). They are way more active in there than in the bucket and I'll be adding the parents and the four fry left with them from my 75 gallon today to give them "their own place".
Before I even set up the 20. After I got home I acclimated my new pleco and was getting dinner ready, as I did one of my friends called and said I could come pick up his 37 gallon tall free of charge. So I went to pick it up, came with a stand, a hob filter (not sure if it works), some pea gravel, a bunch of decor, and a hood and light. Slipped him $30 when he wasn't looking though
. As I was leaving my other friend called, he said I could come pick up his 30 Long, once again free of charge! It came with another hob, hood and light, and a nice oak stand! So I got home and realized: I just got 3 Not-Leaking tanks with everything I need to set them up for $20 (plus 30 to my friend)... Best day in a while is all I can say!
Pictures coming when I get home!
