My local LFS just got in 6 ocell's between 2.5"-3" and they are selling them for $11.99 each!!! Pbass in my area are unheard of!!! I usually have to travel 100 miles one way to find any lfs that might have some. Here's the catch though. They are keeping them in really cold water and they have a mild case of ich. Would it be worth the risk to buy them and put them in the tank with my two 3.5" monos? I have a 135 gallon tank that runs 85 degrees. I think my water temp alone should get rid of their ich but would I also have to treat my water with medication? I really want to buy a couple but I don't want to affect the 2 pbass I already have either with ich or the medication. The kid at the LFS said they might try to treat them there and to just check back in a couple of days. If I go back and they still have them and they look good, I really want to buy a couple. What do you guys think? What should I do? Thanks.

Absolutely do not treat your water if you have 2 that are healthy and ich free. Also I personally would not introduce ich into my ich free tank for any reason. Ich + juv cichla is bad bad combo. If you just gotta do it ide buy like a little 30g tank and quarantine them, see if you can get the ich cleared up. If you can, you got a hell of a deal, if they die, atleast you didnt introduce parasites to your clean tank!

Sounds good. I think even a 10g hospital tank will be fine. And if they're sick, you can probably get them to go cheaper too;)

I like this idea! They might go cheaper! Haha. I even have a small tank, I think its a 20 or 25 gallon. It's not established yet though, should I throw some cheap goldfish in with them to help with water parameters? I would need to get a heater also.

10 gallon hospital tank and a 87 degree water should clear it up, along with being fed well.

lol...i had the same incident...but to the routine of waiting for the lfs to clear them of ick....and after 2 weeks of treatment...had 2 left, so i took them both, and walla all fish look good and no problems!!! worth the wait!!!.....my lfs know me well now, that whenever they get something new that i like, they will hold them for a week, cause the guy knows that i like to wait to make sure they are doing good before i add them to my tank....
