hey guys, i just 4 got baby red bellys that vary from 2-4 inches. when i got them home the smallest one had a chunk bit out of him. i fed them as soon as i got home. the next day they were all fine. then the 3rd day i wake up and see a piranha head floating around. "the one that had the bite out of his bottom rear". any one know why thid happend? hoe i can aviod this again?

keep them fed constantly and they may leave each other alone, but its fairly normal for them to go through the pecking order when small also.

your water params won't make a difference, baby red bellies are extreme cannabalistic, even if you overfeed them. Atleast it happen when they were small and cheaper to replace = )

well right now there in a 29. but im moving them into a 55 hopefully this weekend. if not sometime next week.

well, there's your problem. too small of a tank for 4 inch piranhas

Reguardless of the tank size this just happens. Buy 6 get 4. That kind of thing.

the odds of it happening dramatically increases when you have them in too small of a tank during their growth spurts but you're right, it can happen anytime. i'd rather know i did all i could to prevent it

Sorry, should have worded that differently. I agree.
