Reguardless of the tank size this just happens. Buy 6 get 4. That kind of thing.

Yup. That seems to be how it goes. I started with 6 and now I have 4. One day I'll come home and there will be 3 plus a head floating in the tank.

I bought 22 about a year ago and only lost 3. It happens often when they are young, but once they acclimate themselves it tends to happen less frequently

I lost two the same way. I used to have 8 in a 75 G tank. Now I only have 6. The biggest is around 3 inches. They are all the same age and have been living together since november. But in less than a week i lost two. I was expecting to keep 3-4 out of the eight I got. Funny thing is that I always find the head lying on the gravel and not floating.

Very ture this happened to my big guy was eaten by my three small guys ( 8" big guy(smaller guys 6.5")
