I have neil proneks book on oscars and he says if you have a 29 gallon tank it would be perfect for a single adult oscar and a 55 gallon would be perfect for a pair.

the issue you may run into is "the third man out" syndrome. 1 fish gets bullied by the other two. many factors are envolved with this , like sexing. but its worth a shot. just keep an eye on the situation.

Ok You know what every one has a fluval or whatever. What it comes down to is water changes and do your fish fit add one more and ten air stones. Man it has nothing to do with your filter but it does.oxygen pluuswater change =buy another filter
