30+ CL's for a 180g????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you are totally fine with adding 10ish more. With that ARO tho, i would eventually get more filtration. Sponges are great. There is this post i just read about how this guy turned one of the old EHIEM filters into a monster canister filter. GOOD read, and it would probably provide a significant amount of filtration to your 180. The GPH WAS LIKE 1000gph on the pump.
If you want madness in the form of CLs....... bigger filtration.

HERES THE LINK, LOOKS PRETTY COOL:

Awesome Article! =D I'm buying an Eheim on my next upgrade. =) Thanks.

AqAdvisor thinks:

Recommended temperature range: 24 - 28 C.
Recommended pH range: 6.5 - 7.2.
Recommended hardness range: 5 - 12 dH.

Warning: You NEED to add more aquarium filtration capacity!!!

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 39%.
Your tank is too small - it will require massive amount of frequent water changes each week!

Your aquarium stocking level is 231%.
Your tank is seriously overstocked. Unless this setup is temporary, you should consider a larger tank.

haha... I went and did a survey and i entered the following:

1 x Asian Arow
2 x Parrots
1 x Flagtail
35 x Clown Loaches

and it gave me..........

Warning: You NEED to add more aquarium filtration capacity!!!

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 37%.
Your tank is too small - it will require massive amount of frequent water changes each week!

Your aquarium stocking level is 471%.

I bet if we did a AQAdvisor survey on my friends tank the stock rate would go over 1000% cause he has so many fish in his tank.

I suggest a sump since its going to be the best bang for your buck and AqAdvisor is funny eh,lol

Yah I would love to get my friends stock list and punch it all into AQAdvisor and see what it says. I think AQ takes the full grown max size of all fish and gives a overview conclusion.

Well eventually I'll get a bigger Canister.... and sump right now I just have no idea how its going to work.... cause i would imagine tehre would need to be drilling involved here. I can ask my friend since he built all his own tanks at home but if i can just add a bigger canister and do WC"s then so be it. I'd rather jsut do more WC's instead.

AqAdvisor does take the full grown size of a fish, it does not know the size you have, lol.
I don't think its that helpful really. Fun to do though. Just looking at the water chemistry will tell you whats going on in your tank.

So what do you think about 35 loaches?? >=P

I think if I get 35 there will be a Clown Loach Party in my tank 24/7! =D I find the more you have the more crazyer they get.

Actually it does... you click juvenile sizes then enter the number of inches the length of the fish is. I did AqAdvisor for the OP tank but I put a silver aro because I didn't know what kind of aro he had. Asians are illegal here. :naughty:

Seriously dude, you could probably put that many fish in your tank, but I really think you don't have the bio capacity for it. I would add like three sponge filters, would hardly cost you anything, if you don't want to spend a lot of cash.

I think your nitrates would be out of control, and that's really the worse thing you could have if you are trying to have healthy clowns.

i have 14 to 6" in a 125 with various other fish including plecs gouramies and an acara running an external filter. took water to be tested BEFORE my weekly 30% change...nitrates less than 5!
