I know, I said if they were the only options. You had mentioned to keep the FH in the 55 and someone else said they could be kept in a 40. I'm not saying to put it in either of them but if I had a FH and only a 40b and a 55 available it would go in the 40b because of the width.

im not a big fan of fh and i strongly dislike convicts

if all you have is a 40G breeder, then a FH is not an option . . .

to the OP . . . that idea about Rainbow cichlids is a good one; nice fish, very hardy

To state the point... show me some evidence of a flowerhorn have grown more than 1 feet...
Nonetheless, Fei Fang loooks like a flowerhorn which is a different type that have a wider body length than flowerhorn.
