30 gal

What about some blue rams? They are really colorful and personable. With a pair in a 30 you could also have a small community of cories and tetras.

Here's a picture of my male I used to have. He was one of my favorite fish I've owned.

^^Great idea. A pair of rams(Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) with some cory julii (corydoras julii) and amber tetras (Hyphessobrycon amandae) would be awesome. Rams are cheap and readily available at most LFS'.

I am kind of over rams...not the biggest fan of them. I do see them all the time at my lfs
I like the banded acara though

acaras are the way to go, even the smaller ones are pretty active and have more "personality" than rams IMO

yeah but how big do they get? (the banded acaras)

this post is good seems to be getting more action then mine any help is great on 30 gallons cause thats all i can house right now.

Any of the smaller centrals from the genus' Archocentrus or Cryptoheros would make a fantastic start. Very vivid colouration in most species, reasonable demeanour, and a good size for that setup.

I'd personally go for Apistogramma sp. but they don't seem overly popular around here, too small apparently!
