I was wondering if i can put 10 gallons of bioballs in my 30 gallon feeder tank. I have a powerhead blowing them all over the tank. Would they collect a massive bacteria colony and would i have a great filter from doing this. thanks guys in advance Howie

Well i have my 30 gallon feeder tank with 10 gallons of small plastic bioballs sppinning around the top i have a inside fluval pumping them around. Fish are doing fine seems like its working, can i also do this to a tank noone sees like a 80 gallon with an electric cat add 20 gallons of bioballs to the top and would that be a huge bacteria colony keeping the water perfect!

tank is overloaded with feeders and i am feeding heavy, water testing absolutely perfect with my bioballs floating ontop!

Anybody know if this can actually work, the balls are spinning around the tank and getting air and water constantly!

I guess it isn't all that different in principle from an undergravel filter, in a twisted, upside down kinda way. If you want something similar that might look a whole lot better, you could always try plants...
