regarding the shrimp, yes you would probably lose some of the fry to the fish and filters, but it just depends on the types you keep... if you got for larger amano or fan shrimps, then they should be fine but don't expect much reproduction...
Otherwise for ornamental shrimp such as Cherry Reds or Crystal Reds, i would build the colony of shrimp first, then add fish later...
