That's strange. they were or even are readily available here in Europe the last couple of months.

sorry for off-topic...
A lot of good that does us over here... :p There are many species more readily available on the other side of the lake.

I am interested in keeping my first puffer. I have a 30 gallon tank that I am going to start setting up. Any suggestions on what kind of puffer and what kind of set up for the tank?

Be aware that that both the congo and arrowhead puffers "typically" are not overly active puffers.

So if you are looking for a fish to greet you when you put your face up to the glass, they may not be for you.

A Figure 8 Puffer is a great all around puffer, requires brackish water and would appreciate the swimming space at about 3 inches in length and will love you for a long time (15 years) if you treat it well...

I have 2 T. Suvatti and 1 T. Miurus at the moment, love them both, but they are not for everyone.

get a green spotted puffer theyre very cute... but VICIOUS it killed all my other fish in my 30g and then when i grabbed it and took it out of the tank it bit me, made me bleed, and let out this high pitch scream sort of sound... it was weird

GSPs are great (never actually had one, but), they require brackish water, with increasing salinity to full marine at maturity ...

Oh believe me, usually it's the other way around. That's why I was surprised. Maybe different for African species though.

Agreed... i have 2 palembangs and a congo myself... although i'm luckier in the sense that my congo is rather active while my 2 palembangs are lazy except for when its feeding time...
