30 Hour Famine

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Histrorically people like Gandhi have gone much longer without eating, granted his discipline and focus were of one of the greatest in the world. Not to mention his reasons and cause being much different.

First time Ive heard about this. What are your reasons for doing this???

I would think 30 hour fast would be more appropriate, famine by definition is long-term, if you are going to do something, at least term it correctly.

Wow... :chillpill::chillpill::chillpill:

I've never done it, but once a month I don't eat for a day. I remember reading it is good for your heart or something like that...

But I can not eat until the nighttime and it doesn't bother me. I used to try fasting in highschool just to see what it was like and if I could do it... yes I used to smoke a lot :D

There are purported health benefits to fasting... and going a couple of days without food isn't going to hurt you unless you are hypoglycemic or have something like that.

I read a book called 'Hunger' by Sharman Apt Russel, which goes over famines, fasting, eating disorders, physical effects of malnutrition, etc... I'd actually recommend it.

Where was I going with this? ;)

Sponsor someone in your town, it goes to feeding starving kids in Africa and Asia.

I did it for 7 years, and had a lot of fun doing it each year. Our youth group leaders decided to walk us by a really good Italian restaurant in my area during hour 15. It was such a sick and twisted idea.

what would be the reason behind fasting? *i already have mine, wondering if its the same*

It's a fund raiser for a very helpful organization. They teach starving towns and cities how to farm and grow their own food. Basically the idea behind it is to go through just a little bit of what they've experienced their whole lives.

I take it you did the program every year for 7 years. And that is wrong walking you past a restaraunt. Hope my youth leader doesn't do that.
