I was wondering what everyone thinks about tall tanks? Is it worth all of the hassel to get a tank that adds 6" on height? I'm thinking that it has to make it extremely difficult to clean. Let me know what you think.

i have a 26" deep tank, and for me personally, its a pain to clean sometimes when i need to reach all the way to the bottom for something, and gets tiring when i need to stretch my arm to scrape the bottom of the tank sides.

granted, im a small guy, so im sure having longer arms than i do makes a difference.

I would definitely recommend the 30" tall tank. The aquatic scene appears much less compressed than with a 24", IMO. The depth is not a problem for maintenance if you get the right tools.

I know the viewing area is better, but wouldn't a 30" stand correct this problem?

I wouldnt own one myself its just a pain to clean I am 6'2" and I cant come close to reaching the bottom. I have also heard from various sources that 30"+ tanks have alot of leaking issues over time because of the pressure.

I went back and worth for a while on this same dillema. In the end I went with the 24". Also deeper tanks are harder to oxygenate, surface area is so much more important with big fish than depth.

Deep tanks sure do look good though, they look really good.

It depends. If the other dimensions are 8' and 3', 30" tall would be just fine. :)

Well, I'll be spending the extra 700 bucks to get a 30" instead of the 24", nuff said.
