I see lots of beginers buy dempsies & convicts(along with oscars & managuense) to put in unsuspecting community tanks. I like & breed both before. I have to get back into the hobby but rest assure there is nothing like a good 6 in male nigrofasciatus (convict), a 8-10 male octofasciatus(dempsey) is regal also. the LFS in my area just keep a big group in bigger tanks a have less staple cichlids in the smaller tanks.

Either a parasite was introduced into the tank or your new JD's are beating up your Electric Blue!!I've read they are pretty delicate fish.

Damn if it is a parasite.. What do i do?!?! and how do i kno it is for sure??? i really cant wait til friday to chk on his condition!!! i hope he is back to the Norm... and im pretty positive the Jd's did not beat up up.. he has not one scratch on him, or any missing scales or nip marks... only thing wrong is he is breathin with only one gill working(opening and closing). and he has a lower stamina for swimming and eating!
