NYC - QUEENS
Hi all !

This thread will be made for couple of reasons.

One is to show off the cool tank I will make ;)

Another is to hear any of your wise advices, ideas, any input will be more than appreciated. Knowing the reality, it will take longer than what I would want it to take, but that will give me some time in between the building progress for you to chip in.

3rd reason is to simply document this for myself + for me to be able to just send someone over to this website so they can see what I'm doing, how etc.

It'll be 1/2inch glass all around. 72"36"24"

Haven't decided on what will I keep in there - all I know is that I will not be able to fill the tank all the way up, since my floor is weak and most likely would not take all the load. I always wanted to keep stingray(s). I may do that. Other option is discus, but with either one I promised myself that I will only get discus/ or stingray IF I will make an automated water changes + "breed" my own live food - if I won't be able to fulfill those two, I'm not getting into either one.

Very likely that I will make it a "riparium" since I love plants and have all the equipment for it from my old tank that I sold.

Once again, very undecided on what the tank will be used for, if bio filtration won't be needed so much I will just keep a canister filter or two / if I decide to keep discus or stingrays, I'll use wet dry filter.

Wish me luck, share with any ideas/advices you may have ! Thanks !

if your floors are weak you probably shouldnt bother with the large tank. the glass and stand alone is goign to weigh quite a bit. my build which is similar to yours took me and three other people to slide ti a few inches after it was assembled (no water sand or anything). freshwater weighs abotu 8 pounds per gallon. so even 100 gallons ( about a third full of your tank) is going to weigh approx 800 lbs, on the light side. pls another 300 or so for glass, stand, and sand. ur already looking at a half ton. I'd be very careful abotu positioning as well. if you are only grabbing two or three floor joices with your frame you coudl buckles faster than if you are grabbing 8-10. so if its possible find out which way your floor joices run.

You going to assemble it on the stand? If so I'd maybe finish the stand first(maybe you are). That way you don't have to move that beast! That much glass it gonna be really heavy! :) Can't wait to see it finished.

Yes sir, I'm taking it serious, the tank will not be filled all the way up - I'm going for a "riparium" style, planted with discus ... I think that's what I wanna keep. If not it will be just riparium plants with no gravel.

Previously I had a 110 gal with 40gal sump + SUUUUUUPER heavy stand and all had relatively small surface ( since the tank's base was very squarish - 42x32 ) this time it will be the same amount of water spread out more evenly since the tank's base is 72x36 and most likely I will not be using a wet dry sump.

thanks for the input, I really appreciate all the comments, warnings etc !

Necrocanis - no I will assemble it on the floor ... I have those "L-shaped brackets" that I always use. Yes it will weight a lot, but hey, Imma move it only once ;) ( until I move out )

Thanks !

Could provide a little more info on these brackets? Do you mean corner clamps?
