Well after reading what carpboyjoe had to say about how he hates how bulky and overbuilt our North American stands tend to be, I feel kind of leery or sheepish if you will posting about my project. I have gained a lot of ideas from this forum and other sites and I feel like I should share with you guys anyway even if he will probably hate it and maybe flame on me. So here goes from start to finish I hope most of you don't think it's poo.
Stage 1.
As you can see, it's way overbuilt because I have a wife that really understands "overkill". I doubled up 2'' x 4'' 's and used framing brackets from the Home Depot with 2 1/2'' wood screws. Next to the frame stand you can see the fish tank set up in my garage on the old stand that did not pass with the wife's aesthetic approval.
