Dude just moved my 210 to my friends garage and I second that F... that mother was heavy. Especially going up the stairs.

Maybe acrylic is better for moving I am in a down stairs appt....
other pros and cons anyone?

silicone seals will eventually get old. it takes a long time but eventually it will. someday.
theres no telling how old the tank is if you buy it used. i wouldn't chance it with 300 gallons of water in my living room.
once acrylic is bonded together, it all becomes one piece. no chance of leakage and its 17 times stronger than glass. yes it scratches easily but the scratches can be easily buffed out. if glass scratches...its a done deal. acrylic is also clearer than glass. the thicker the glass is, the greener the tint. acrylic is also a lot lighter in weight. acrylic tanks also cost more. public aquariums use acrylic.

you can give me any acrylic tank and i can make it look brand new again. like it just came from the manufacturer. dont care how old it is.

just my thoughts on big monster tanks 300 gallons and up...

^ this... Nicely put Kee...

We moved mine with just a truck, $30 in gas and two dudes... Big acrylic FTW!

Thank you, great insight! Acrylic does make more sense. I am still pretty new to the monsters and I appreciate all the help I can get.

when you narrow it down, the only con about acrylic is it scratches easily. thats it...

one thing you should look for when buying an acrylic tank is the bowing of the front panel. if its not made thick enough it will bow. like my old 180. my mag-float only worked on the sides. lol...
