So, I had originally planned on ordering a 300 gallon glasscages tank. Got a quote, and started having nightmares about the weight of an all glass tank. So just because I'm neurotic, I decided to look at some acrylic versions of the same tank.

I've had good experiences with Seaclear but they wanted about $1400 more than the glasscages... which is pretty much what I expected. Truvu still hadn't replied back, but Tenecor sent back a quote they was about $200 more than the glasscages and once you consider the difference in shipping costs between the two, they are basically the same price.....Exactly the same tank, with a black back and much lighter...

So, who has had experiences with Tenecor? Good and bad. The glasscages seems like a good tank, but for the same price the acrylic seems very intriguing.... especially at about 700 lbs lighter.

You know glass cages makes acrylic too right? There are plenty of reviews out on the web for both companies good and bad. I haven't purchased anything from either, so I will not comment. I know there are members here who have experience with both of them.

The glasscages shipping policy is a pain depending on where you live.
I would have to drive to LA from Vegas to PU. I decided to buy locally instead.
Good Luck

Yeah but the size I need (96x24x30) is not a stock size for them. Its a custom order and alot more expensive than the tenecor.

There's a lot of customer service horror stories from both Tenecor and Glass Cages, so choose wisely.

Tell me about it. They basically say curbside service.... Literally. No in the house or the garage or up the driveway for that matter. It would be alot easier to get the 375 lb Tenecor in the house than the 1100 pound glasscages.

I know you get what you pay for, but the weight difference, the ease of drilling acrylic over glass and strength of the acrylic got my attention. He'll, my wife and myself with a furniture dolly could manuver around the Tenecor. I'd need at least 8 guys to move the glass....

I know. I've been reading all day and I'm getting a mixed reaction on both. Figured I'd post here to see if anyone had real experience. Price is so good I almost bought it on the spot. Then I started reading......Hmm

Luv my Truvu 20 years and going strong....every scratch was my own carelessness...they dont scratch themselves. Love it much better than glass!

You said you were waiting on a quote from Truvu? They have prices on their website:

96x30x24: $2160
96x24x30: $2220

Yeah, but the overflows are a bit custom. They come stock with 1 hole each for a 1" bulkhead. I'm having the tank drilled for (2) 1 1/2" bulkheads per overflow. Not sure how much more they'll charge, but tenecor came in about 400 cheaper with the custom overflows.... and the responded in about 30 minutes
