300 gallon acrylic?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I see. Man, save yourself the money and drill the holes yourself! Acrylic is very easy to drill, just need a standard hole saw. Just have them make it w/o any holes and you could place them where ever you like.

I agree. But the price on the Tenecor actually got cheaper with the custom drilling. Stock tank was $2411 and after the overflows, holes and bulkheads were added they came back right at $1900.

I'd already planned on cutting the holes in the top for the returns anyways , but if they want to do the work and cut 500 bucks off the price, I'm game!!

Plus, they offer whatever they consider a lifetime warranty. Im sure that includes them drilling and not me...

also another big savings... even though you are in orlando, you will need less than half the heaters in an acrylic tank

So true... My acrylic 90 currently stays about 78-80 without a heater at all. I've got two 300 watters I'll throw in the 300 just to be safe.

Fwiw I have 1, 300 watt heater and that keeps my 300 acrylic at 78+ in my wisconsin basement (ambient temp down there is about 62 right now)

In my opinion the only reason to go glass is if you are paranoid about scratches, but those can be easily buffed out if need be. With the weight concerns, I went with acrylic and would never choose glass personally. Even if it will cost you more, its less hassle for get people to help you move it.

won't ever get big glass tank, don't need to wake up to this happening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KpMpDZW0ag

Yeah I remember seeing that.... really sucks. Between the weight, the clarity and the strength, I think I'm definitely going to go acrylic. I already have one so I'm pretty well versed in fixing scratches, but it seems like that's the only real negative considering they are basically the same price.

I love my Seaclear, but I'm not spending 3 grand for one . I just wish Tenecor had better online reviews. Seems like most tank builders have a fair amount of negative feedback though.... read some negative things about Truvu and Glasscages too...

i got a 350g tenecor coming from fish tanks direct. don't have it yet. you gotta remember people who have a negative experience are more likely to post about it than those who had a positive experience, that just how it is.
