Hi everyone. I was looking to purchase a 240 Long or 300 Gallon tank. Glasscages.com is only 4 hours away from me, so they are the most logical choice. Has anyone used them before? If so what do you think? Moving the tank might be an issue, so I will probably get Acrylic, although i would rather have glass.

They said a glass 240 Long weighs over 600 lbs and the acrylic one is about 250 lbs.

I have heard many good things about glass cages. Their prices look very competitive and you would save quite a bit on shipping. If you think you can handle glass get it.

I just bought a 300 Truvu and had it shipped.... It doesn't make a bit of sense to go 4 hours to p/up a tank imho, based on time value of money and gas prices.

Very true. But if you wanted to check out the facilities and some other tanks just for fun it would be cool to go.

I got my 240 from glasscages. Go for it. The tank is made very well. and reinforced with more glass. It's built like a tank. Just remember how heavy it is. I have had to move mine twice and it sucks. Even with 6 guys, thats over 100lbs per person. Plus trying to get it through doorways...

I just got a 240 long reef ready yesterday morning, I picked it up from them in a gas station parking lot LOL. Ill upload some pics for you later but I love it. Best price you will find on a tank...and its built pretty well. I think you need to have a canopy and stand that cover the trim. It dont look bad but its not "show" maybe. Ill get some pics for you.

Here you go...

It looks very good. Is it glass or acrylic? Thanks for the replies.

nevermind I see the silicone. I didn't think it weighed 600lbs. Thats crazy heavy.

I thought that it looked small for a 240 as well. Almost looks like a 125 gallon, but it is pretty long. Maybe a 240 long.
