I draw this using MS paint and a mouse so it's uggly but you got the idea, and it's cheap. Basically you get a small glass tank (2 gal for $10 at Petsmart), then cut a hole on the rubbermaid wall to fit the tank (push it in halfway) then silicon around the red dots line :headbang2. Total cost may be $20.

You could make a viewing globe.

Take a glass sphere, like a traditional goldfish tank. Put it in your pond, fill it with water, turn it upside down and bring the opening an inch below the surface.

So you have this glass fish tank, filled with water above the surface. Prop it up there with some stands you could make from PVC pipes. You can put food up in the bubble to train the fish to go up there, it's pretty cool. It magnifies the fish.

if his pacu needs a 300 gal rubbermaid, and not a reg tank i dont think it will be going into a small tank suspended above the pond.

ahh sounds easy... just cut out a section, buy some plexi glass... heat it a little to give it a bend... then just use some sealant :)

would heating and bending not distort the acrylic

It doesn't have to be a small tank. I'm going to do it next year for my outdoor pond with a 55 gallon tank.

You could easily do a 75 gallon in one of those rubbermaids. If you've got an extra tank laying around you can do it for next to nothing.

+ the fish don't have to go up there for you to see them, if you put the tank near the front you will be able to see a good amount of the inside of the pond.
