300 gallon tank in a trailer?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
lol guys this is goin to be a high end double or triple wide trailer. and there isnt much bad weather here in texas so thats not much of a problem
i just have family land out in the country and i might buy a trailer and put it out there. it will be about a quarter of the cost of buying a house and twice as nice. trailers now a days are pretty fing fancy lol

Why not build something from the ground attatched to a wall of the Trailer? It just dont sit right with me but hey... I don't know much about how Mobile Homes are made.

I do know when I remodeled my home, I planned to add a 1K+ tank in my living room and as we stripped the guts out, I purchased cinder blocks with 6x6 housing. Placed 12 under the area I had visioned the tank and connected 6x8x8's pieces of Lumber under so weigth would not be an issue.

yeah, those are neat trailers. My sister bought one in texas a couple years back. They come in segments and are put together on site. Looks like a house when you're inside one of these. Very fancy indeed and totally different than the "common" trailer.

west. its hard to imagine, we will say pre built home instead of trailer
the only difference is they do not have a foundation. i mean im looking at 2000-2500 SQft homes
yea! exactly fram, not a regular trailer park trailer
they are very common out here bc normal houses foundation shifts and you end up with cracks and have to fix it and it costs a fortune, and its easy to just bring in a house and set it down so when or if you ever leave the property there is no permanent damage done to the land

who would want to live in a trailer??? Beside that you could easily stabilize the floor with some tones under the tank position.
its not really rude, just ignorant

I had put on in a trailer be for and what you need is to get some of the jack that help support the middle of the house and when you know where you are going to put it buy a couple 4x6 beams anduse four jacks per beam and run them perpendicular to the floor joist. Put the beams on top of the jacks and run them up till they are good and snug. Also you need to put something under the jack like a pressure treat 2x8. Id doesn't take too long to do just a pain to go under the house. Good luck. alsowatch for electrical and water lines that might be exposed( i found a couple of those)

these homes commonly have whirlpool tubs. one of those filled up is pretty close to the same amount of weight. there is just some extra cribbing placed under that area. if you know where you would like to place the tank, when you have the home set up have the company place some extra support in that area. talk with the company your getting the home from and have them talk to the engineers how much the floor can support would be the best way to find out.

great idea!

thanks guys, i plan on talking to the builder about it more. i just wanted to get some opinions here first.
does anyone have a big tank in a trailer? or am i the first??? lol

I've got a 125 & a 55gal in the living room of my trailer. It's about all the weight I'd want. I put extra concrete blocks under frame of trailer and 2x6 supports directly under 125. Think my family thinks i'm crazy & they may be right. So far all's well, but it makes me nervous. Tank does move a bit if you bounce in its area. 55 does not concern me at all just always thinking "what if" about 125. Have always been a bit paranoid tho:) With a modern trailer you could do it but would half to make sure you have excellent support under it. I would go so far as to pour a concrete pad directly under where tank will be with bracing built directly from floor joist to concrete pad. If you do that you could probably make it work with no problems. Yea, it may seem a bit crazy, but hey, when it comes to aquariums......... aren't we all??????? Best of luck to you:)
