here are some pics, the first one is how it looks 95% of the time,so dark you can hardly see the stripes, the second pic is actually its best attempt at "coloring up" which it does every once in awhile for random reasons.

the only thing I can compare it to is the bumblebee cichlid from malawi, the way the males look so dark when they are in breeding color.

But yeah I probably will try to sell it if it doesn't get much better.

I know it has the ability to stable out because the pic that was posted of him by the original owner in the buy and sell section back in December showed him very stable...and there were other people interested I just got him first....so I probably would not settle for much less than what I paid for him if I did drop below that at all....it may take awhile but I'm sure I'll find a buyer with how bad everybody wants an ST,some don't even care about stability....

In fact a few days after I got him he was in real bad shape and I still had people posting things like "I'll buy it if you don't want him!"

Its a nice ST, where you live?

But I hope your fish will color up soon, but If you really REALLY dont want it, you got me and sinisterJ to take it off your hand.

I cant even get a ST like that for $300 here :irked: you got a good deal :D

Accept paypal? ^^

small dats, especially the ones with low self-esteem, tend to have dark color until he's confident of his environment ... give him time, you wont regret ...

some ST never turn stable its the luck of the draw

well maybe its your back ground... i had no background and my thin bar was so pale where you cant even see its bars.... now i put a black background and i end up with a turd like yours... maybe you should switch to blue.... i'm thinking about it but that would require me to strip the paint and redo it....

well just wait =] it may come out of the dark shadows sooner or later...when I got my indo tiger a few days ago he was stable in the tank at the LFS and when he was in that little bag when we were all heading home he was changing in a unstable to stable condition and when we got home...placed him above the waters for the 15-30 minutes l acclimation process then before I opened the bag he was already stable and once he got out he was swimming around like a lil child happy on his birthday...and anytime I change waters or move stuff around he never gets unstable for some reason...which im quite happy for him since I don't want to see a unstable looking datnoid...for some reason in my opinion of sight...it looks unhealthy which I know it is just normal =] But im happy to have a young datnoid with such a lil monster in him...such spunk already sputes out into the tank when im near the tank watching them all

If you can afford to,
1. Change the tank background to blue
2. Increase light intensity
3. Add some salt
4. Introduce current.

This usually does the trick, but your dat is seriously skinny. Pamper it if u want it to look good!
