????
I set the temperature on the heater to 76F and i was wonder will the tank heat up to 80F?

If "with" means "will," then no. The heater will have an internal thermostat that turns it off when the temperature set is reached.

If "with" means "with" or something else, I am unable to comprehend that as a coherent statement.

Nope, if you set it to 76, then it will be 76. You can put the same 300w heater into a 5g tank and it should only be heated to what the temperature is set to. Of course there might be fluctuations of a degree or two depending on how well calibrated the thermostat is.

set it to 80 and see. sometimes the thermostats in heaters can be off by a few degrees.

you may find setting it to 80 actually puts the water at 82, for example. you have to record the temp with a thermometer and set the heater accordingly

just set it to 78F just to be safe

after the heater turns off, the element may still take time to cool down. If the heater is oversized for the tank, this may add a few degrees.

Don't wanna cook any fish, so i just set it to 78F in case it goes too high
