Palm Bay, Florida
I Have a one year old 3000 gallon Koi pond I hand dug while my girlfriend sat and drank beer. The pond is just over 3 feet in depth in the deepest part and inclines to ankle deep near the filtration system. I'm loading up some pics tonight. I currently house 8 koi, 4 goldfish and 1 pleko (algae eater)sp. I have quite a few lillies and some japanese mini palms (small dwarf plants that look like little palm trees) Not sure if thats what their called or not.

The maintenance is down to a small water change every mount (ok, probably a few hundered gallons) I basically flood my girlfriends vegitable garden till the pump is dry and refill. This leaves still a lot of water in the pond. Since the depth here in Florida I do not have to worry about a heater in the winter and the bottom stays cool in the summer. I have not had to worry about birds or animals cause of the rocks and things surrounding the pond.

These were taken a few months ago, so I'll try and get some new ones with videos.

Fantastic looking pond, but are you sure that's a 3000 gallon? Might be the angle of the pond but I have a pond that is double that size that is 2 ft deep, and is only 1800 gallons.

KAZE: I'm going to recalculate this saturday since it's been over a year since I built it but I do believe it is pretty close due to the depth. I think the pic does make the pond look smaller than it is, so i'll throw up some newer ones with better views.

Thanks for taking a look

very nice.

Is there a mini-train set-up going around it?

nice pond!

Muske: Yes the is. It's an out door railroad (another hobbie of mine) G-scale or LGB. I did have it going all around my yard but took most of t up cause I was unhappy with the turn out. So I am taking care of th pond and rethinking the train layout.

The other day we have been having some strong wind and noticed one of my tall japanese palms there got knocked over and trapped a koi at the bottom - Lost a beautiful orange Koi. I was so mad. I have to find a new shop around my area.
